The Bromsgrove & District Amateur Radio Club AGM 2020 will be held on 31st July 2020 at 2000 hrs via Zoom
As we all know, 2020 has been a little different to normal and due to the current lockdown restrictions, it has not been possible to hold the B&DARC AGM at its usual time in May. In order to finalise the 2019-20 year and elect a new committee, a decision was made at an online general club meeting to hold an AGM via zoom on 31st July in order to comply with ongoing lockdown and social distancing requirements.
Until the AGM, the timetable for events are as follows:
- Wednesday 1st July is the final date for nominations of persons wishing to stand for election. Names must be submitted to the secretary and chairman prior to this date.
- Friday 17th July is the closing date for submission of any other business (AOB). Members are reminded that as per the club constitution, AOB submitted may only be discussed and actioned at this AGM and AGMs in the future.
The officers’ reports will be circulated by e-mail prior to the AGM. Voting for committee positions will take place by secret ballot using Zoom. Members may appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf if they are unable to attend the meeting.
The committee would appreciate any information from members who are aware that a fellow member is known not to have access to e-mail or the internet so that postal arrangements can be made.
Following the latest UK Government advice, Bromsgrove & District Radio Club has decided to suspend all meetings until further notice.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly and have taken into consideration the implications for our members and the impact on their access to social contact. However, some of our members are likely to fall into the most at-risk groups for COVID-19 infection and the committee felt that suspending all meetings and club activities was the most appropriate action to take.
Please be aware that this includes the Wednesday coffee morning, Friday evening meetings and other activities such as contesting and training. Access to the shack outside of meeting times is also suspended, though regular checks will be made for security purposes.
We encourage members to stay in touch on the air and details of organised nets will follow.
We wish all our members the very best and implore you to follow the advice at nhs.uk/coronavirus. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone soon.
We all know that radio amateurs tend to be hoarders so what better way to redistribute the hoard than a club surplus sale! Members brought in all manner of bits and pieces and some members were even seen opening their wallets!
Many members went home happy with their new purchases and the club’s funds benefitted from a little boost too!
Now all that remains is for everyone to justify their purchases to their XYLs…
